To bring the benefits of its scholarship programmes to more Hong Kong students, HSBC launched the HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship Scheme for students studying in full-time higher diploma and associate programmes.  The Scheme aims to provide support to students in vocational education to realize their goals and ambitions.

Mr. Afsar Bilal, year 1 student of Higher Diploma in Sports Coaching and Leadership student, and Ms. Ngai Ka Yu, year 2 student of Higher Diploma in Fitness Training and Management student of LIFE, were awarded the HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship at the HSBC Scholars Day on 15 June 2018.  Apart from academic excellence and good performance in panel interviews, HSBC Scholars must demonstrate a commitment to serving the Hong Kong community.

Ka Yu has been awarded the Scholarship in two consecutive years.  She said, “I thought that my motto - Never Give Up When Face Difficulties - impressed the panel members!”  Ka Yu has already obtained the offer from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and will admit to Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Health Education after graduation to achieve her dream of being a PE teacher.

Bilal, a distance run lover, will practice for about 100 kilometers every week.  He said with a laugh, "I need to buy a pair of new running shoes every month.  I’m glad that the scholarship supports this expenditure."  He encourages DSE students not to lose hope as there is always a chance waiting around the corner.
