Programme Objectives

  • Provides a solid foundation in philosophical traditions, arguments and problems that will enable students to pursue further studies in philosophy in Hong Kong or overseas

  • Enables students to think philosophically about problems that they will meet in their daily and professional lives

  • Develops analytical and critical abilities for solving problems of all types with creativity and flexibility

Programme Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:​
  • communicate convincingly in speech, writing and presentation in both English and Chinese languages for further studies and work;
  • apply a range of IT applications and quantitative skills to support and enhance work;
  • apply critical thinking and reasoning skills, thus enhancing problem solving;
  • demonstrate knowledge in both Western and Eastern philosophy;
  • apply logical thinking and foster critical awareness of fallacies in everyday reasoning; and
  • challenge the status quo and think creatively to solve problems.

我慶幸自己能夠在兩年前進入學院接受教育。學院的老師教學認真,給予學生悉心教導,這都是我得以順利升學的原因。特別是哲學研習,更是需要老師指導和共同討論,這方面哲學科老師都給予莫大的幫助。另外,副學士課程的學習模式與中學不同,較為鼓勵學生思考。這模式激發我的學習興趣,使我能以另一種方式表現自己的能力,得以升讀大學。

在學院的兩年間,既有鞏固基礎知識的科目,如語文、中西哲史等;亦有較為專研的科目,如佛學概論、政治哲學等。學院的人文學科(哲學)副學士課程提供了一個探索自身興趣的機會,亦為我的升學打下了穩固的根基。在配套方面,學院的學生在嶺大校園上課,為我們提供一個理想的學習環境,並能讓我們盡早適應大專生活。在師資方面,學院的老師都十分友善,具有教學熱誠及豐富經驗,會在課業和升學方面給予非常實用的意見。倘若同學能善用學校的資源,定必能滿載而歸!
