Programme Objectives

  • Provides training on written and spoken English and Chinese through practice in general and professional translation as well as basic interpreting, and through linguistic and literary studies

  • Provides training on inter-lingual communication skills and cross-cultural knowledge applicable to a wide variety of jobs

  • Nurtures and trains a professional with bilingual competence, cultural sensitivity and critical thinking skills

Programme Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:​
  • communicate convincingly in speech, writing and presentation in both English and Chinese languages for further studies and work;
  • apply a range of IT applications and quantitative skills to support and enhance work;
  • ​apply critical thinking and reasoning skills, thus enhancing problem solving;
  • demonstrate knowledge in linguistic and cultural competence in Chinese and English;
  • well understand the similarities and differences of Eastern and Western cultures through linguistic and literary studies; and
  • apply inter-lingual communication skills and cross-cultural knowledge applicable to a wide variety of jobs and further studies.
