To bring the benefits of its scholarship programmes to more Hong Kong students, HSBC launched the HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship Scheme for students studying in full-time higher diploma and associate programmes.  The Scheme aims to provide support to students in vocational education to realize their goals and ambitions.

Mr. Aurang-zeb Mohammad Saqib Rangzeb, Higher Diploma in Sports Coaching and Leadership student of LIFE, and Ms. Ngai Ka Yu, Higher Diploma in Fitness Training and Management student of LIFE, were awarded the HSBC Vocational Education Scholarship at the HSBC Scholars Day on 29 June 2017.  Apart from academic excellence and good performance in panel interviews, HSBC Scholars must demonstrate a commitment to serving the Hong Kong community.

Rangzeb has been playing boxing for 6 years.  He noticed that the role of a coach is very important in an athlete’s life thus he chose Higher Diploma in Sports Coaching and Leadership programme of LIFE.  He said, “I got the chance to be an assistant coach in a gymnasium.  After completing my studies, I plan to be a boxing coach and help as many people as I can.”

Ka Yu wishes to be a PE teacher in the future and pass the sports and fitness knowledge which learnt from Higher Diploma in Fitness Training and Management programme to students.  She shared her experience, “I have learnt the knowledge and skills to prescribe and lead exercise for various target populations, and the operation of mechanical equipment from LIFE.  I am now confident to teach other people.  Internship opportunity also gives me a place to practice and show my learning outcomes. "

Rangzeb and Ka Yu encourage DSE students not to lose hope as there is always a chance waiting around the corner.

HSBC Scholarship Programmes for academic year 2017/18 will commence in the next semester. Interested sub-degree students can approach Student Affairs and Learning Experiences Division (SALED) for application details.
