Teaching and Learning Facilities

Students of the Associate Degree and Higher Diploma programmes can enjoy the teaching, learning and amenity facilities of the University campus.

The New Academic Block

In order to meet the development of LIFE and to provide high quality teaching and learning facilities to our students, the New Academic Block was built inside the University campus and put into full use in 2005. The new 6-storey building of 10,406 square meters is situated next to the Amenities Building, Skylight and Jockey Club Student Village. It is equipped with classrooms, computer laboratories, Self-access Language Centre,a student function hall, a Chapel, a student common room and student recreation area. It is also fully covered with Wireless Local Area Network and fully furnished with fibre and CAT6 cabling system, which gives better support on high bandwidth applications like video and multi-media software applications.


The Library

The Fong Sum Wood Library located at Patrick Lee Wan Keung Academic Building of the main campus offers a wide range of materials and services to students.  It houses over 521,000 volumes of print books, over 1,110,000 items of e-books, and subscribes approximately 67,000 e-journals, over 800 serials, as well as 262 databases.  Collections of various audiovisual materials are up to over 46,000 items.  The Library also provides over 630 study spaces, 190 open-access workstations, and 18 individual and group study rooms.

In addition, students can enjoy a variety of services and facilities provided at The Chiang Chen Information Commons (IC) as well as The Lee Hak Kan Multimedia and Language Learning Centre (MLLC).  More information is available at .

The Information Technology Services Centre (ITSC)

The ITSC acts as a nucleus providing computing, networking, audio-visual facilities and information technology services to the University and LIFE. It delivers integrated services to the staff and students through desktop computers, which contain email, Internet and teaching software applications, common office automation software applications, software utilities and printing facilities. Staff and students can also access the Internet facilities from home by connecting to the University network. If students encounter computer problems, they can consult the User Services Officers at the ITSC or the Computer Assistants in the laboratories.

Sports Facilities

The University provides a wide range of sports facilities, both indoors and outdoors, such as swimming pool, tennis court and Multi-purpose Outdoor Sports Ground. All indoor facilities are fully air-conditioned. Bookings can be made in person at the Sports Complex. The Sports Complex provides a variety of facilities to students, e.g.  badminton courts, volleyball courts, basketball court, handball court, squash courts, table tennis room, multi-purpose room and physical fitness room.




Catering Services

The University operates 2 dining areas and food services (breakfast, light refreshment, lunch and dinner) are available throughout the academic year and during summer holidays. The Student Canteen and Cafe are located on the ground floor of the Amenities Building, and the Chinese Restaurant is on the first floor of the same building.

The Chaplain's Office is dedicated to preserving Lingnan's Christian heritage, whilst promoting its mission of fostering whole-person development. The Office provides pastoral care and Christian counselling for both staff and students. The Chaplain's office is located on the upper ground floor of the New Academic Block.
