Programme Objectives

  • Raises students’ awareness of the linguistic, literary and cultural aspects of Chinese language, both classical and contemporary alike

  • Equips students with the basics of Chinese linguistics and literature

  • Sharpens the skills of independent critical thinking and analysis via various literary works

Programme Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:​
  • demonstrate an understanding of the essential disciplinary concepts and knowledge of Chinese language;
  • identify and examine various literary and cultural aspects of both classical and contemporary Chinese;
  • identify and apply critical approaches in analyzing literary works;
  • demonstrate proficiency in the use of English and Chinese languages and communicate effectively for further studies or work;
  • apply creative problem-solving, IT applications, and critical thinking skills for handling further studies or career pursuits; and
  • demonstrate an understanding of cross-disciplinary knowledge and possible cross-disciplinary application.

《大頭菜文藝月刊》刊登學院學生作品

學院學生的作品獲香港資深編輯關夢南先生稱讚為「極有創意」的作品,2016年6月起陸續於《大頭菜文藝月刊》刊登,其中朱家軒同學的〈智能宗教〉講述「史馬風」變成聖物,受全民膜拜。歷史老師提出「史馬風」可能是「聰明的機器」而非聖物,遭宗教法庭的人捕捉,並於廣場示眾、焚燒。目睹的學生「我」一方面對老師的「大逆不道」深感震驚,另一方面對同窗、大眾的殘酷、盲目深感不安。「我」回家後面對聖物,終夜祈禱。(照片摘自「學生文藝」臉書專頁 https://www.facebook.com/hkplmm)

師生參觀屯門藍地村陶氏宗祠、三聖廟、清醮廟會與墟市,親身體驗傳統宗法與節慶風俗。

仁愛堂舉辦花牌製作工作坊,兩位年老村民親身示範並指導同學製作小型花牌。

同學有機會認識傳統鄉村生活文化。

珠流璧轉,歲月不居,兩年的副學士課程就這樣到達尾聲,由於疫情,回到學校上課的日子只有短短兩個月,課堂都是透過zoom進行,這是之前從來沒有嘗試過的上課形式,當初心裡亦十分擔心自己能否跟得上,但老師們都克服新教學形式帶來的困難,悉心教導,即使無法面對面上課,課上也講解得十分清楚,並透過其他形式解答我們的疑問,當然,在這兩年期間我也認識了許多志同道合的朋友,即使一開始並不熟悉,也會積極參與小組討論,形成良好的學習氛圍,為我的副學士的生涯帶來美好回憶。

在LIFE的兩年裡,我認識了不少良師益友,亦有幸在他們的扶持下順利升學,繼續我的學習生涯。我認為讀書最重要的是積極和主動,千萬不要認為在課堂上發問和發表意見是一件醜事;另外更可以主動與新同學接觸、組隊作小組活動。這裡的老師非常友善,有的老師甚至會在課前課後與我們閒話家常,可說是亦師亦友呢!最後必須強調時間管理的重要性,不論是上課還是提交作業,我都會提早到達或繳交,以便自己有足夠的空間作出調整,呈現最好的學習狀態和做出滿意的作業。

時光荏苒,轉眼間兩年的時光如白駒過隙。曾記得自己因從未修讀過中國文學而感到不安、徬徨,但有幸得到老師悉心教導,不厭其煩地解答任何疑問, 給予鼓勵,令我在學業上打好基礎。且院校課程十分全面,涵蓋古今,有助學生銜接學士學位課程。 除了文學知識外,我從老師身上學習到許多人生哲理,獲益匪淺。 此外,這裏令我認識到一群純樸、為理想而奮鬥的好友,感謝嶺南為我帶來珍貴美好的回憶以及院校老師循循善誘教導我們,實在難得。

​很多人在文憑試失手,便想放棄自己的理想,當初的我亦是如此。課程中固然會讀中國古今文學,亦介紹港台文學,絕不局限於華文文學,其中亦有不少外國文學經典,相比學士課程毫不遜色,可謂甚是嚴謹,以求與學士課程可以相互銜接。我在這兒遇上了影響深遠的良師益友,從老師身上學到的不只豐富的文學知識,亦感受其對學生的教學熱誠,對文學的初心。學院的學習氛圍,絕對合適熱忱文學的你。

記得開學的第一天,我把嶺南大學形容成「一股清泉」。這裏的同學很純樸,老師平易近人,同學之間相處融洽,老師和學生亦師亦友。修讀中國語言文學副學士課程讓我學會了很多以前從未接觸過的中文知識,課程規劃十分全面,為學生打好基礎以銜接學士學位課程。老師用心教導,只要你有任何疑問,他們都樂於解答,與你分享他們所知的。這兩年對我來說,是人生中的轉捩點。我學懂了很多,不只是書本上的知識,還有待人處事的態度,讓我裝備自己,迎接未來。
