The involvement of companion dogs as an adjunct to human service professional has been an attractive alternative to conventional interventions. Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) is the term given to interventions where a specially trained dog and professional handler work together, in conjunction with a human services professional (e.g., therapist, social care practitioner, teacher or healthcare provider), to promote improvements in the physical, social, emotional and/or cognitive functioning of a person.
In this interactive workshop, we will introduce how Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) is functioned by the human-animal team for motivational, educational, and recreational purposes. Animal Assisted Therapy (AAT) could be used for rehabilitation therapy and psychotherapy for dealing with mental health issues. The key message of the workshop is “everyone should have the responsibility to enhance our society with equality and mutual love among human and animals.” |
