Programme Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to:​
  • describe the unique roles and functions of a healthcare practitioner working for elderly in community and residential settings;
  • apply industry specific communication, social and interpersonal skills for effective and professional interactions with trained professionals and individuals;
  • apply knowledge and skills in health care to enhance the quality of life and functioning abilities of the elderly; and
  • demonstrate social awareness and understanding of the ageing issues and their overall impact and significance in Hong Kong.

Professional Recognitions

Graduate who has fulfilled the requirements set by the Social Welfare Department will be awarded “Health Worker Certificate"and be eligible for registration as a health worker under Social Welfare Department.

Additional Admission Requirement

  • For mature applicants aged 21 or above, a completion of Form 5 or equivalent qualification is required.

因應社會人口老化,長者的醫療和護理的需求日漸增加,專業的護理人員人手不足,供不應求。長者健康及護理高級文憑緊貼市場需要,學生須參與 40小時實習,完成課程後可成為社會福利處的註冊保健員,投身安老服務業。陳盛德指,保健員注重愛心和耐性,起薪約1.3萬元,日後可進修晉升為登記護士,笑稱是「筍盤」。保健員蘇家譽則分享說,男生亦能非常細心,體貼照顧長者需要。​
