Associate Degree / Higher Diploma Programmes
- Level 2 or above in five HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language and English Language[1][2] or
- A recognised Diploma Yi Jin / Diploma; or
- Aged 21 or above showing suitability and competence in taking the programme; or
- Other equivalent qualifications to be assessed by LIFE
Diploma Programmes
- Level 1 or above in English Language and Chinese Language; AND at least 6 points[3] in the best five subjects of HKDSE[1]; or
- Aged 21 or above showing suitability and competence in taking the programme; or
- Other equivalent qualifications to be assessed by LIFE
[1] Each applicant is allowed to use no more than two Applied Learning (ApL) subjects in the application. The recognition of the ApL subjects for 2012-2017 is as follows: "Attained with Distinction" is deemed equivalent to Level 3 in the HKDSE; and "Attained" is deemed equivalent to Level 2 in the HKDSE. From 2018 onwards, the reporting of students' performance is refined to "Attained", "Attained with Distinction (I)" and "Attained with Distinction (II)". "Attained with Distinction (I)" is comparable to Level 3 while "Attained with Distinction (II)" is comparable to Level 4 or above in the HKDSE.
[2] Applied Learning Chinese [ApL(C)] is designed as an alternative Chinese language (ACL) curriculum and qualification for admission for Non-Chinese Speaking (NCS) students, but it cannot be treated as an elective subject for admission. The results are reported as "Attained" and "Attained with Distinction" in the HKDSE.
[3] HKDSE Levels 1 to 5 are converted into points 1 to 5 respectively, Level 5* = 6 points and Level 5** = 7 points.
